Ramsdale has lost his position as Arsenal's number one goalkeeper ever since David Raya joined on loan from Brentford at the start of the season.

Ramsdale was in goal for Arsenal's first four league games of the season but has since been restricted to just two more appearances in the Carabao Cup.

The England goalkeeper is set to return to the post this weekend when Arsenal face Brentford as Premier League rules prevent Raya from facing his parent club.

Ramsdale has also been warned by Gareth Southgate that his place in the England set up for EURO 2024 is at risk if his bit-part role at club level continues.

“If Aaron goes in at the weekend, then he’s left out for the next game, then we know who Mikel’s number one is,” Seaman told BBC Radio Five Live.

“It’s not good for Aaron. He’s a top-class goalkeeper, there’s no doubt about that.

“Aaron’s too good to be a number two, that is for sure.”

“I think January will be a bit too soon [for a move away],” he added. “It’s the game after this weekend, that’s where we will find a lot of answers.

“From what Mikel was saying when he brought Raya in, when he talked about rotating goalkeepers in games, which I still found a bit bizarre, we’ll have to wait and see after this game.”
