Alexis Sanchez Eyeing Champions League Glory With Man United

Alexis Sanchez is aiming to win the UEFA Champions League for the first time in his career with Manchester United after failing to do so with previous clubs Barcelona and Arsenal.

The closest the Chilean has come to lifting Europe’s Premier club competition are two semi-final exits in three seasons with the Blaugrana in the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 seasons.

Barcelona won the Champions league in 2010/2011, the season before Alexis Sanchez arrived at the club in a £30m deal from Udinese, and again in 2014/2015, the season after he left to join Arsenal.

An upturn in form since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival at United, coupled with Paris Saint Germain’s mounting injury crises which has seen Neymar, Cavani and Thomas Meunier all ruled out of Tuesday’s clash at Old Trafford has given the Red Devils a real chance of progressing.

"The Champions League is a dream for any footballer," Sanchez told the Mirror ahead of Tuesday's first leg against PSG in Manchester.

"I lived with that dream at Barcelona and saw what it was like. I hope I can win it one day and why not here?

"We have got through the group stage and PSG are next. It's a big test but it's 180 minutes of football - anything can happen.

"United are a club with so much history and are capable of beating any rival.

"If we win at Old Trafford and we don't concede, then I think we would be favourites for the second leg.

"I think we can do that and I see this United team with a lot of chances to score in Paris."

Alexis Sanchez has scored just two goals in 18 appearances for United in all competitions this season.
