January Premier League Player Of The Month Shortlist Revealed
An eight-man shortlist for the Premier League’s player of the month for January has been announced.
Leaders Manchester City have two players on the list in the shape of Ilkay Gundogan and John Stones, likewise Arsenal, who are represented by Bukayo Saka and goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
West Ham United defender Craig Dawson, Matheus Pereira of West Bromwich Albion, James Maddison and Jack Grealish complete the shortlist.
Stones scored two goals in January and was also part of a Manchester City backline that kept four clean sheets. His teammate Gundogan hit a purple patch in the first month of the year, scoring five goals to help the Citizens take top spot.
Leno kept four clean sheets for Arsenal in January while 19-year-old Saka notched two goals and an assist for the Gunners.
Dawson helped the Hammers to four wins in January and chipped in with two goals as well.
Grealish laid on three assists for his teammates during the month from five appearances and scored once.
Pereira found the back of the net four times for Sam Allardyce’s men and Maddison scored three times and provided one assist for Leicester.
Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta, Graham Potter and David Moyes are contesting for the manager of the month award.
