Real Betis outclassed AC Milan at the San Siro as they condemned Gennaro Gatusso's men to a 2-1 defeat with an outstanding attacking display on Thursday.

AC Milan lost 1-0 to crosstown rivals Inter Milan at the same ground on Sunday and proved indifferent in Thursday’s Europa Cup game as they were dominated for the most part of the evening.

Antonio Sanabria and Giovani Lo Celso put the visitors 2-0 up before Patrick Cutrone grabbed a consolation for the bartered hosts to grace their only moment of dominance.

The win puts Quique Setién’s Green and Whites on top of Group-F with 7 points; a point more than AC Millan.

Olympiakos Piraeus follow with 4 points ahead of bottom club Dudelange, who have no point from the three games played so far.

Antonio Sanabria went solo in the 3rd minute, but his shot from inside the box veered over the bar at the last second, fifteen minutes before Antonio Barragan headed narrowly wide as AC Milan struggled to match the visitors.

Betis got the breakthrough in the 30th minute with Giovani Lo Celso displaying great vision to find Antonio Sanabria, who showed brilliant composure to connect the ball home.

AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli got the yellow card in the 31st minute before Sergio Leon had what would have been Real Betis’ second goal ruled out for offside.

Antonio Sanabria shot Giovani Lo Celso’s pass a whisker wide of the right post in the 39th minute, and Lo Celso found himself one-on-one with Pepe Reina in the 44th minute but was robbed of the ball by the goalkeeper.

Real Betis started the second half as they left off the first; dictating the pace and pinning AC Milan deep into their own shelves.

Lo Celso got to the ball and unleashed a strong shot from distance, and that turned out to be a good decision as his effort found its way inside the left post to increase the scores to 2-0.

Samu Castillejo attacked down the right flank and provided an inswinger into the path of Patrick Cutrone, who found the back of the net with a simple finish.
