Hugo Lloris Closes In On Injury Return
By Harry Morgan
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is closing in on a return to action as he suggests he could feature for Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday's Premier League fixture against Liverpool.
The Hotspurs’ first choice goalkeeper sustained a knee injury in the 3-0 win at Manchester United on match day-3 and missed the 2-1 loss at Watford.
The France national team captain was also left out of Le Blues’ UEFA Nations League games against Germany and Holland.
Hotspurs engage Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to Wembley in an early kick-off duel this weekend, and Lloris has given an indication he could return to boost Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
“I am working hard to get back as quickly as possible”, Lloris told RMC Sport on Tuesday. “There may be a chance this weekend, but we will see how much progress is made during the week.”
Hotspurs beat Liverpool 4-1 at the same venue last season, but face a bigger task now against Klopp’s side which is yet to lose a game this season and sits at the summit of the table with 12 maximum points.
