Solskjaer Tips Pogba For Man United Captaincy Role

Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed the leadership qualities of Paul Pogba and given the indication he will make the French player his captain should he be given the Old Trafford job on full time.

The Norwegian trainer who was a first-team player at Manchester United at a time when Pogba was at the club's academy said the French player has the personality and talent to lead the team.

Pogba suffered a dip in form under Jose Mourinho but is doing differently under Solskjaer who has been loaned to Manchester United by Norwegian side, Molde, for the rest of the 2018/19 season.

Pogba has scored five goals in six games under Solskjaer, and the manager eulogised the leadership qualities of the club's number-six in his pre-match conference ahead of Friday's FA Cup 4th round tie at Arsenal.

"He's a character, he influences people, and you've seen the videos from France, and he cares, and he really wants to be successful.

"He knows he can't do it by himself, it's a team game, and he's a character that brings so many good things with him when he's enjoying himself, I have to say.

"You see the personality. He'd love playing football, he's a larger-than-life character, that's just the way he is.

"When the performances come as well, that marries together as a good leader and you see what it meant to him winning the World Cup in what France broadcast. So, for me, yes, he's captain material."
