AS Monaco Sack Henry As Head Coach
By Joshua Walters
Thierry Henry has reportedly been sacked as AS Monaco manager for poor performance after just a hundred and four days in charge.
The former Arsenal striker was appointed by the club as manager on October 18, 2018, after Portuguese trainer, Leonardo Jardim, was sacked for same reasons.
The situation of AS Monaco has gone from bad to worse under Henry whose short tenure has seen the club drop to the 19th position on the Ligue 1 table with a paltry 19 points after 21 games.
AS Monaco have seen four wins, five draws and eleven losses under Henry, and the club has abrogated the latter's three-year deal with media speculations suggesting they are bringing back the former manager, Jardim.
The 2016/17 Ligue 1 champions were whipped 5-1 by Strasbourg in Henry’s penultimate game and suffered a 3-1 loss to Metz in the French Cup in midweek.
The France World Cup winner was suspended after the match for describing the grandmother of a Metz player as a whore, having called the woman after the game.
AS Monaco are yet to disclose the reasons behind the sacking but media reports suggested Henry's penchant of using his exploits during his playing days as examples when condemning the mistakes of his players in games is one of the key causes.
There are reports that AS Monaco captain, Radamel Falcao, was enraged by Henry's attitude towards the players and approached the manager to change since his method could discourage the players.
