Mbappe Slams PSG Display Against Lille
By Max Wise
Kylian Mbappe has criticised the performance of Paris Saint-Germain after the French champions were humbled 5-1 by second-placed Lille in the Ligue 1 on Sunday.
The defeat marked the second time in a week that PSG have failed to wrap up the league 1 title following last week’s 2-2 draw at home to Strasbourg.
The Parisiens endured a frustrating day at the office as Mbappe had two goals ruled out for offside and had goalscorer Juan Bernat sent off in the first half for a deliberate foul on Nicolas Pepe.
Speaking to Canal+ after the game, the French World Cup winner was left to rue PSG’s performance on the night.
"We'll be champions eventually but when you lose you have to lose in a certain way.
"You do not want to lose personality like that, [concede] three, four, five. That was not normal.
"Lille are a good team so congratulations to them. They have nice fans, a beautiful stadium, but we have to play with more personality,
"It's one of our faults, I think. We'll have to fix it quickly. It really is nothing else.
"Football is played on a field. Today we played like beginners. We must regain focus, there is a game on Wednesday, but I think we must stop losing like that "
The five goals conceded by PSG on the night was the first time the champions had conceded that much in a league game since losing 5-1 to Sedan in December 2000.
PSG will get another chance to secure the title once and for all when they visit Nantes on Wednesday as they lead second-placed Lille with 17 points with eight games to play.
