Ziyech Turns Down Sevilla Offer
One of Ajax Amsterdam’s success stories in their incredible run to the semi-finals of last season’s UEFA Champions League, Hakim Ziyech, has revealed that he has turned down the chance to join Spanish La Liga outfit Sevilla.
Ajax have already lost the services of Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt to Barcelona and Juventus respectively with Ziyech touted as the next in line to leave.
Ziyech has been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, but despite Sevilla being the only club to table an offer for him so far, the Moroccan international has confirmed he has rejected their approach as he considers them on the same level as his current club.
The 26-year-old was back in action for the Dutch champions on Saturday, as he featured as a second half substitute in their 2-0 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Super Cup, and he confirmed to Fox Sports that he will only depart the Johan Cruijff Arena for a bigger club.
“I feel at home here and get to play a lot,” Ziyech told reporters.
“I think Sevilla is from the same level as Ajax and I don’t switch Ajax for nothing.”
“The right club didn’t make an offer yet, so for now I just stick with Ajax and do my very best on the field,” he continued.
“I think everybody gets along really well. It’s a great team. We have fun and you shouldn’t give that up for nothing. You shouldn’t leave because of leaving; it has to be something you fully approve.
“Like I always said: it has to be the perfect picture. Everything needs to be right. I won’t leave Ajax until I have that feeling.”
Ziyech scored 16 goals and provided 13 assists in the Dutch Eredivisie last season, and also found the back of the net three times in the Champions League.
