Tuchel Frustrated With Neymar’s Madrid Trip
Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted that he is unhappy with Neymar’s decision to travel to watch the Davis Cup in Madrid earlier this week, during his recovery from a hamstring injury.
The 27-year-old is set to return in action for the Ligue 1 champions on Friday against Lille, after being out injured since 13th October, during Brazil’s friendly match against Nigeria in Singapore.
Neymar was a guest of former Barcelona team-mate Gerard Pique in Madrid throughout the recent international break and it has left Tuchel unhappy with the former Santos superstar, but the German coach said he is ‘not his father nor a police’ to stop the Brazilian.
"As a coach, am I happy with this trip? No, not at all, it's clear,” Tuchel said ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s game against Lille
“Is this the time to get mad? No, no, it's not the moment. He was very professional here for two weeks. He did more than the others."
The German added: "He has trained with the group, he has individual work. And if everything goes well, he can play tomorrow (Friday). We have to decide if he will start the game or be a substitute.”
"He will bring his quality and be decisive. If he plays for us, we are more dangerous in front of goal and he is a decisive player. He gives this for the team and it's necessary if we want to keep winning."
The Parisians may also be without a number of players, including Marco Verratti and Ander Herrera, while Kylian Mbappe is a doubt with a fever.
