Ronaldo’s Mother Hospitalised After Suffering Suspected Stroke
Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, Delores Aveiro, has been rushed to hospital in her native Portugal after suffering a suspected stroke in the early hours of Tuesday.
Although the Dr. Nelio Mendonca Hospital in Madeira is yet to release an official statement regarding Delores’ condition, it is believed that the mother of the five-time Ballon d’or winner suffered ischemic stroke, which is caused by a blood clot that blocks or plugs blood vessels in the brain.
The 65-year-old mother-of-four is said to be of stable condition at the moment with doctors working around the clock to improve her state of health.
Delores has previously fought and won a battle with breast cancer in 2007 with Ronaldo donating £100,000 to the hospital where she was treated as appreciation.
Delores however revealed last year that she had been operated upon on another breast and was fighting for her life.
Ronaldo has already flown to Portugal to be by his mother’s side after he was made aware of the devastating news.
The 35-year-old had just returned to Italy to prepare for Wednesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final second leg against AC Milan at the Allianz Stadium after watching his former club Real Madrid defeat Barcelona 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.
His participation in the game is now in doubt.
Ronaldo’s father, Jose Aveiro, died of a liver condition in 2005 at the age of 52.
