Holgate Pens New Five-Year Contract For Everton
Mason Holgate has committed his long-term future to Everton, signing a new five-year contract at Goodison Park.
The 23-year-old Englishman joined the Toffees from Barnsley in 2015, making 74 appearances in all competitions in his time at the club.
Holgate has been an instrumental figure since Carlo Ancelotti replaced Marco Silva in December last year, helping Everton move away from the relegation places to vie for a place in Europe.
Manchester City were rumored to be considering a move for Holgate in the summer but the champions will have to consider other alternatives for now.
Holgate has been tipped to make Gareth Southgate’s England squad which will be announced later for friendlies this month.
'This is my fifth year at Everton and my development as a person and a player in that period has been massive,' Holgate told evertontv.
'The direction the club is going, it is a great club to be at and I am really excited about it.
'We want to move to the next step and push for bigger and better things. I want to win things and winning some silverware is where I see us.
'It is definitely a positive time to be here and I am looking forward to seeing how far we can go.'
Holgate, who spent the second half of last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, has made 26 appearances for Everton this season.
