Napoli-Inter Milan Coppa Italia Semi-Final Postponed Amid Coronavirus Fears
Inter Milan’s trip to Napoli on Thursday for the Coppa Italia semi-final second leg is the latest game in Italian football to be postponed due to the surge in Coronavirus cases.
This means that both Coppa Italia semi-final second legs will now have to be rescheduled.
Several games in the Italian top flight have been postponed by football authorities in recent weeks.
Four Serie A fixtures were postponed two weeks ago because of the outbreak while as many as six, including the Derby d’Italia between Juventus and Inter Milan, could not be played over the weekend.
On Tuesday it was confirmed that other Coppa Italia semi-final between Juventus and AC Milan, originally scheduled for Wednesday evening, had fallen victim to the curse of the virus.
Napoli won 1-0 against Inter Milan at the San Siro in the semi-final first leg while Juventus recorded a 1-1 draw at AC Milan in the other fixture.
Italy is the hardest-hit country in Europe with more than 2000 cases of the virus identified and 80 deaths recorded.
More disruption to the footballing calendar in Italy is expected over the weekend as more Serie A games are likely to be called off.
Juventus had to put their entire u-23 side into quarantine last week after some players of recent opponents Pianese tested positive for the Coronavirus disease.
