Mbappe's contract will expire this summer but PSG were hoping he will take up the one-year option included in the last deal he signed in 2022.

Last summer Mbappe was left out of PSG's pre-season tour after he told them he will not be signing a renewal.

The 25-year-old joined PSG initially on loan from AS Monaco in the summer of 2017 and is their all-time top scorer with 243 goals in 290 games.

PSG accepted a world record £259m bid from Saudi Arabia side Al Hilal last summer but Mbappe rejected a move to the Gulf State.

Real Madrid looks likely to be Mbappe's next destination, with Los Blancos having courted him several times in the past.

Several Premier League clubs are also likely to through their hats in the ring to secure Mbappe's signature.

Mbappe scored the opening goal in PSG's 2-0 win over Real Sociedad in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
