Marquinhos Signs New PSG Contract
Marquinhos has signed a new contract at French champions Paris Saint Germain that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2024.
The 25-year-old Brazilian still had two-and-half-years remaining on his existing deal but his stay in the French capital will extend beyond a decade by the time his new contract comes to an end.
Marquinhos joined Thomas Tuchel’s men from AS Roma in the summer of 2013 and has enjoyed a trophy-laden career in Paris.
Marquinhos has won 19 major trophies during his time in France including five Ligue 1 titles and four Coupe de France trophies.
The former Corinthians defender has made 270 appearances in total for the Parisians, including 16 in Ligue this term and has notched a respectable 20 goals.
Marquinhos said: 'Paris and PSG have every argument for me to stay here and extend my contract.
'It's an ambitious club that still wants to do great things, making football and club history.
'Then there's the city side, the family side. My family is really very, very good here.
'I really feel at home here, I've got everything I need right here, and so that's why the choice is quick.
'This is the seventh season. Six-and-a-half years since I signed, I look back and see how much PSG and I have accomplished.
'We've done great things. I think it's really a very special club. We just have to keep living this beautiful story together.'
PSG are in pole position to retain the league title this term as they sit five points clear of second-placed Marseille with a game in hand.
They will face Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16 stage of the Champions League next month.
