‘Africa’s Richest Man’ Dangote Plots Arsenal Takeover In 2021

The 62-year-old Nigerian billionaire is a huge Gunners fan and has not hidden his desire of restoring Arsenal to their former glories.

Arsenal have been on a downward trajectory for some time as they have not won the Premier League title since 2004 and they have failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League since the 2016/2017 season.

Dangote is worth an estimated £8.5b and has investments in numerous businesses including the largest cement production company in Africa called Dangote cement, salt, sugar, among others.

Arsenal are currently managed by American billionaire businessman Stan Kroenke’s company Kroenke and Sports Entertainment (KSE), who have come under pressure from the fans for the way things are being managed.

Dangote is currently concentrating on building one of the largest oil refineries in Lagos but will switch his attention to acquiring one of the best teams in England once that task is completed.

“It is a team (Arsenal) that yes I would like to buy some day, but what I keep saying today is we have $20billion worth of projects and that's what I really want to concentrate on,” Dangote told the David Rubenstein Show.

“I'm trying to finish building the company and then after we finish, maybe some time in 2021 we can.

“I'm not buying Arsenal right now, I'm buying Arsenal when I finish all these projects, because I'm trying to take the company to the next level.”
