Man Utd Announce Antony Return To First Team Training
Manchester United have ended Antony's leave of absence and the Brazil international will resume training this weekend.
United placed Antony on leave earlier this month after three women levelled domestic abuse allegations against him.
The 23-year-old was dropped from the Brazil squad for their FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru earlier this month as a result and he has missed four matches for Manchester United during this period.
Antony has been co-operating with police investigation in Brazil and Manchester but is now available for selection again following the latest update from his club.
A statement from Erik Ten Hag's side read: “Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has co-operated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so.
”As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed. This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case.
“As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”
Last month, the Old Trafford club were forced to cut ties with academy graduate Mason Greenwood following an internal investigation into allegations of domestic abuse on his partner.
Greenwood has since joined Spanish La Liga side Getafe on a season-long loan.
