OGC Nice Player Threatens To Commit Suicide After Breakup With Girlfriend
OGC Nice midfielder Alexis Beka Beka has been rescued after he threatened to commit suicide on Friday morning following a break up with his girlfriend.
Beka Beka was pictured standing on the edge of the Magnan Bridge in Nice, 100 metres above the ground.
Police and firefighters rushed to the scene while his club sent a psychologist to negotiate with the 22-year-old.
Nice were also forced to cancel their media activities scheduled for Friday ahead of their Ligue 1 game against table toppers Brest this weekend.
Some Nice players have reportedly tried to get into contact with Beka Beka's girlfriend.
Beka Beka joined Nice from Locomotiv Moscow last summer and made 14 appearances in the top flight but is yet to feature this season.
Nice are second on the Ligue 1 table.
Beka Beka is of Congolose decent but has played at youth level for France, where he was born.
