Kante Resumes Contact Training With Chelsea Teammates
N’Golo Kante has resumed contact training with the rest of his Chelsea teammates after being allowed to stay away due to fears of contracting coronavirus.
The France international was given special dispensation by his club last month to skip sessions after expressing safety concerns over Covid-19, which has infected over seven million people globally and killed more than 400,000.
Kante’s fears stem from his previous health problems as he collapsed in the Chelsea dressing room two years ago and lost his brother to a heart problem shortly before helping France to World Cup glory.
Coronavirus is said to be fatal for people with pre-existing heart conditions.
Chelsea were even prepared to allow Kante miss the rest of the season should his fears about Covid-19 persist but he will now be available to manager Frank Lampard in the Blues’ remaining nine league games of the season.
Chelsea will resume their Premier League campaign with a trip to Aston Villa a week on Sunday before hosting champions Manchester City four days later.
Lampard’s men will also have to negotiate an FA Cup quarterfinal tie away at Leicester City and also have to take a trip to Bayern Munich for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie.
Kante has been dogged by fitness issues this season, but the French World Cup winner has still managed 22 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals.
