Shaw Optimistic Man Utd Can Win Champions League
Luke Shaw believes Manchester United can win the UEFA Champions League this season.
Europe’s premier club competition remains United’s most realistic chance of lifting silverware this season, having already exit both domestic cup competitions in the shape of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
Heading into Sunday’s trip to Leeds United, the Red Devils are fourth on the table and 20 points behind leaders Manchester City.
United topped a Champions League group that featured runners up Villarreal, Atalanta and Young Boys from Switzerland, and have been paired with La Liga champions Atletico Madrid in the round of 16, with the first leg coming up in Spain on Wednesday.
“As a team, we believe we can win the Champions League," the defender has told the club's official website. "There’s no reason why we can’t think that.
“Some people will think I’m stupid for saying that, but we have that belief and confidence that we can win it. Not many people on the outside will think that but I’m sure everyone in this dressing room – the players, the staff and the management – all have that same belief that we can.
“Now we need to pick some momentum up, get results and keep playing well.”
