Esperito Santo Wins Premier League Manager Of The Month For August
Tottenham Hotspurs boss Nuno Esperito Santo has won the Premier League’s manager of the month for August.
The 47-year-old Portuguese was the only manager to win all three games in August, with his Tottenham side boasting wins over champions Manchester City on the opening weekend, former club Wolverhampton Wanderers and Watford, all without conceding a single goal.
Nuno came out on top in a four-man shortlist that also included Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, West Ham’s David Moyes and Everton’s Rafael Benitez.
“It’s a privilege, I’m very thankful," Nuno said after receiving his award.
"Behind the scenes, with all the work that everybody in the club does, helping the coaching staff and trying to provide the right environment for the players to compete, because this is how we want to work together, push each other, help each other, so it’s a privilege to be here.
"I always say that it’s down to the hard work of the players. The players have worked really hard in pre-season and that gave us the ability to compete well in the beginning of the season.
"In the league they’re tough matches and always very competitive, but the credit is for the players because they are the ones who delivered the results and the performances."
Tottenham are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Crystal Palace in the early kick off.
Elsewhere, West Ham United forward Michail Antonio won player of the month and Danny Ings’ overhead kick against Newcastle United won goal of the month.
