Zidane Undecided On His Number One Goalkeeper

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane says he is still undecided who will be his number one goalkeeper at the Santiago Bernabeu club.

Zidane gave Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas only his fourth start in La Liga this season as summer acquisition Thibaut Courtois was dropped to the bench for Saturday’s 2-0 win over Celta Vigo.

Navas repaid his manager’s confidence in him by keeping a clean sheet and making a superb stop from Maxi Gomez’s effort when the scoreline was goalless.

Zidane, however, made it clear after the game that his decision to select Navas ahead of Courtois does not mean the three-time Champions League winner is his number one goalkeeper.

"It's not a final decision, there are 10 games left”, Zidane told Marca.

"Thibaut is going to play again and the third goalkeeper is Luca (Zidane). That's three good goalkeepers but Madrid should have three or four great goalkeepers.

"You cannot contest four, five or six competitions with just one great goalkeeper."

Aside Navas, there were also recalls for Isco, Bale and Marcelo with Zidane insisting that every player will be given the chance to stake for a place in the team.

"No one can take away what all these players have achieved in the past. I have a squad of 25 players and I am going to have to count on all of them, on Courtois, Keylor, Isco...

"Those who played today were very good but I am going to use everyone. There are of course those who are sometimes going to be left out, who are not going to play."
