Mihajlovic is currently asymptomatic but will go into a two-week isolation as per protocol.

The 51-year-old will miss the start of Bologna’s pre-season campaign which starts on Monday ahead of the Serie A’s resumption on September 19.

"Our coach is completely asymptomatic but will remain in isolation for the next two weeks in line with national guidelines," the club said in a statement.

"The entire Primavera (youth) team group underwent medical tests in the past few days with all the results returning as negative. First team players and staff will undergo tests tomorrow."

Mihajlovic was diagnosed with acute leukaemia last year making him miss some games on the touchline as he alternated between his job and undergoing chemotherapy.

The former AC Milan manager led Bologna to a 12th place finish last season and was rewarded with a new contract until 2023 at the end of the campaign.

As Serie A clubs report for pre-season ahead of the 2020/2021 season, a number of positive covid-19 cases have been announced by the teams.

Cagliari reported four cases last week as Filip Bradaric, Luca Ceppitelli, Alberto Cerri, Kiril Despodov all returned positive tests.

Sassuolo announced former Chelsea winger Jeremie Boga has tested positive while Napoli, AS Roma and Torino all reported positive cases.
