UEFA Release Champions League Squad Of The Season

The Union of European Football Association(UEFA) have released a 20-man squad comprising the best performers of this season’s UEFA Champions League.
The curtain on this season’s competition was drawn on Saturday at Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano stadium as Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspurs 2-0 to win the trophy for a sixth time.
This season’s Champions League provided many thrills and spills filled with suspense along the way as the introduction of Video Assistant Referees(VAR) in the competition added many unforgettable moments.
There were improbable comebacks as well, epitomized by Liverpool and Tottenham’s advancement to the final when they looked dead and buried in the semi-finals against Barcelona and Ajax Amsterdam respectively.
UEFA’s technical observers which include England manager, Gareth Southgate, Belgium boss Roberto Martinez and former Manchester United manager David Moyes selected the 20-man list.
Dethroned champions, Real Madrid, Manchester United and French champions Paris Saint Germain have no players in the squad.
Eventual winners Liverpool boast of six players in the squad with goalkeeper Alisson Becker, Trent-Alexander Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Sadio Mane all included.
Hakim Ziyech, Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt, Dusan Tadic and David Neres are the beneficiaries from Ajax Amsterdam’s fairytale ride to the semi-finals.
Tottenham Hotspurs are represented by Jan Vertonghen, Moussa Sissoko and Lucas Moura while Manchester City have Raheem Sterling and Kevin de Bruyne in the side.
Barcelona duo Lionel Messi and goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo and Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele complete the list.
