Rose Hails Pochettino For Inspiring Arsenal Comeback
By Max Wise
Tottenham Hotspurs full-back Danny Rose has hailed his manager Mauricio Pochettino after his rousing speech at half-time inspired the Lilywhites to claim a point against Arsenal in the North London Derby on Saturday.
Tottenham came into the game on the back of two successive league defeats against Burnley and Chelsea, and went behind before the break after Aaron Ramsey capitalized on Davinson Sanchez’s error to give Arsenal the lead.
Harry Kane however restored parity for the hosts with a 74th minute penalty before Hugo Lloris denied Pierre Emerick Aubameyang from the spot as Tottenham drew for the first time in the league this season.
Rose credited Pochettino for Tottenham’s improved performance in the second half and described his half-time team talk as one of the best he has witnessed in his career.
"The manager said some things at half-time and that was the turning point because he is usually really calm and collected," said the left-back, as reported by Sky Sports.
"He normally talks to us at half-time and this time it was like he was really sending us to war.
"That was one of the best things I have witnessed in football, his half-time team talk, and we kept going and that was the attitude he wanted to see in the second half."
"He normally talks, he's really calm as you have all seen," added Rose. "But this time he was really passionate.
"I felt as if I was literally going into war after the team talk that he gave. It's literally one of the best team talks I have been involved in since I have been playing football."
