Spalletti Tells Perisic To Focus On Inter After Failed Arsenal Move

Luciano Spalletti has told Ivan Perisic to redirect his focus to Inter Milan after failing to secure a move to the English side, Arsenal, in the just-ended January transfer window.
The former Dortmund player was close to joining Arsenal but saw the move collapse on the transfer deadline day following the reluctance of the Italian club to let go of the Croatian player.
Perisic alerted the Italian club of his desire to leave, and now Spalletti is asking him to accept the reality that the move could not happen and direct his attention on the club.
“Now the market has closed, he needs to rediscover the obligations that a footballer has.”
“I don't know if it was the right thing to talk about these offers that he had, but this is how the transfer market works and the player said he was interested.”
“In the end, nothing happened, but the fact that there was so much said about it created all of this. Now.”
Perisic was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer, but that could not materialise since the club failed to negotiate on the player.
The 29-year-old winger joined Inter Milan from Wolfsburg in 2015 on a five-year deal for a fee of €16 million.
The 2018 World Cup finalist has scored three goals in eighteen Serie A games, but failed to score in the Coppa Italia and the Champions League.
