Mourinho Declares Bundesliga Interest

Jose Mourinho is open to the possibility of managing in the German Bundesliga if the opportunity arises.

Mourinho was sacked as manager of Manchester United in December 2018 and has been out of work since, but he has already made clear his intentions of returning to management in the summer.

Reports recently surfaced in the French media that linked the 56-year-old Portuguese to Olympique Lyon and AS Monaco.

Mourinho is one of the most successful managers in Europe, having won league titles in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain with FC Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid respectively.

Out of Europe’s top five leagues, it is only Germany and France where Mourinho has not managed, but that might soon change.

Asked specifically about whether he would be receptive to an offer from Germany, Mourinho said: 'It's a country I've never trained in. Why not? Let's see.'

'I would like to win a third Champions League with a third club and to win a fifth league in a fifth different country,' Mourinho is quoted as saying by Record.

'But I do not always have what I want and my ambitions are not limited to this.'

Mourinho’s desire to win a third Champions League with a third club in a different country could probably lead him to Bayern Munich, who have failed to convince under Niko Kovac this season.

But Mourinho has stated in the past that he will not like to manage in the Bundesliga where it is easier to win the league.

Mourinho famously took a swipe at then-Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola, after winning a third Premier League title with Chelsea in 2015, saying that the Spaniard had chosen a club who had no difficulties winning the league.

"For me, I'm not the smartest guy to choose countries and clubs. I could choose another club in another country where to be champion is easier," Mourinho said at the time.

"Maybe in the future I have to be smarter and choose another club in another country where everybody is champion," he added.

“Maybe I will go to a country where a kitman can be coach and win the title.”
