Milner Sent Off By His Primary School Teacher In Crystal Palace Win

Liverpool vice-captain James Milner was given his marching off orders by Referee John Moss late in Saturday’s enthralling 4-3 victory over Crystal Palace, and now pictures have surfaced on social media that Moss was Milner’s primary school teacher in his younger days.
As a child, the former England international attended Westbrook Primary school, where Referee John Moss used to be a teacher.
Referee John Moss was also the school’s youth team coach with Milner as his captain but their relationship did nothing to prevent Moss sending Milner off in the 89th minute for two bookable offences.
Milner, deputizing for the injured Trent-Alexander Arnold at right-back, was given a torrid time by Crystal Palace forward Wilfred Zaha throughout the game, and it was the Ivorian who was at the receiving end of a bad challenge that prompted Milner’s dismissal.
Luckily for Liverpool, Milner’s dismissal did not prove too costly as their deadly front three of Mane, Salah and Firmino all found the back of the net to maintain their four-point lead at the top of the table.
Milner’s only other red card in 115 Premier League games for Liverpool also came against Crystal Palace in 2016 for yet another foul on Wilfred Zaha.
Liverpool will be without James Milner for their next league game at home to Leicester City as he serves a one match suspension for his dismissal.
