Marquinhos: Keeping Neymar At PSG A Difficult Task For The Club
By Joshua Walters
Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos has admitted it will be a difficult responsibility for the club to keep his fellow countryman Neymar.
PSG shocked the world after they triggered the Brazilian’s release clause in his Barcelona’s contract with €222 million world record fee.
Since arriving at the Parc des Princes, the former Santos winger’s future has endured two lengthy suspensions on the sidelines.
And that has somewhat made his arrival unfulfilled having failed to help the side win the Champions League, the club's prime motive for bringing him to the French capital.
Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is said to have grown discontent with the player’s attitude as the club would want to offload him this summer.
With PSG not ready to tolerate Neymar’s attitude, the pacey winger is reported to be angling for a move to join his former side Barcelona.
But Marquinhos is confident the two parties could bear no malice for his club and country teammate Neymar remains with the side having admitted it will be difficult for the club to convince him.
"I hope [Neymar will stay]," Marquinhos told L'Equipe. "He is important.
"It's difficult to sign a player like that in your club. It's also difficult to keep him, but I hope he will continue with us.
"Beyond being an important player, he's also a friend, a guy I love. I really hope he stays."
Neymar who was ruled out of the Copa America due to ankle ligament damage paid a visit to his national team colleagues before the side humiliated Peru 5-0 on Saturday.
