Manchester City thumped Burnley 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday to return to the top of the Premer League as Erik Lamela heaped Tottenham Hostpurs to a 1-0 win in the London Derby against West Ham.
Chelsea leapfrogged to the summit of the table after drawing Manchester United 2-2 at the Stamford Bridge in an early kick-off game, but the champions showed they are going nowhere with an emphatic win that takes them to 23 points; a point clear of Chelsea and Tottenham, and two points more than Liverpool, who play at Huddersfield on Saturday.

Bernardo Silva extended the lead for the hosts in the 54th minute with a fabulous effort into the top left corner after collecting a brilliant pass inside the box from David Silva.
The anguish barely died out for the visitors before Fernandinho increased the dose in the 56th minute by picking up the ball from a rebound to unleash a shot into the top right corner from the edge of the penalty box.
Riyad Mahrez controlled the ball with an excellent first touch on the edge of the penalty box, after receiving a splendid pass in the 83rd minute, and smashed the ball into the top right corner.
Leroy Sane completed the rout in the 90th minute. The German international was put through by Benjamin Mendy, and he showed brilliant composure inside the box to fire into the right side of the net.
Erik Lamela’s 44th-minute strike was all Tottenham Hotspurs needed to see off cross-town rivals West Ham in the London Derby at the London Stadium.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men have now recorded four straight wins and sit third on the league log with only three points behind leaders Manchester City.
Tottenham Hotspurs’ Moussa Sissoko saw his goal-bound shot blocked in the 11th minute, and Robert Snodgrass registered West Ham’s first clear chance in the 37th minute with a goal-bound shot that deflected off to safety.

A clever short pass gave Fernando Llorente a clear goal scoring opportunity, but the Spaniard fluffed his lines and rifled the ball high over the bar.
West Ham’s, Michail Antonio, ran onto a pass and from the edge of the box, tried his luck with a dipping shot but saw his effort fizzed just over the bar.
