Lacazette Never Considered Arsenal Exit
By Max Wise
Alexandre Lacazette has opened up on his frustrating first season at Arsenal and says a move away from the Emirates Stadium after just one season was never on the cards.
The 27-year-old former Lyon striker joined the London-based club in the summer of 2017 for an initial £46.5m fee, but a combination of inconsistent form and niggling injuries led to suggestions that Arsenal were ready to cash in on him after just one season.
Lacazette scored 14 Premier League goals in 32 appearances last season and has already found the net five times in 12 games in this campaign.
Lacazette's partnership with Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has been fruitful this term and that has helped the Gunners to a 10-game unbeaten run and 5th place on the Premier League log after initial fears that the two could not play together.
Lacazette told Arsenal Player: "When first I think about Arsenal, it was when Titi Henry played for Arsenal and scored goals. Now I'm there so I want to make the fans happy."
"I'm happy because I know now the league, I know my players, my teammates."
"The club is happy because this summer they didn't want to sell me; they told me 'we are happy to have you in the team.”
