Liverpool captain, Jordan Henderson, has committed his future to the club by signing a new undisclosed long-term deal on Monday.
Henderson arrived in Liverpool in 2011 from Sunderland and has progressed from a deputy captain in September 2014 to substantive captain in the summer of that same year.
“I’m very happy to have signed a new contract for a long period of time”, said the 28-year old player. “I am absolutely delighted.”
Henderson, who took over the captaincy of Liverpool from club legend Steven Gerrard continued: “It doesn’t seem like too long ago when I signed my first one- it feels like yesterday, really – but a lot has happened since then. I feel it’s been a progressive journey for me throughout my time here and one I’ve enjoyed so much."
“There is no other place in the world I would rather play football. I want to be here for as long as I can be. I’m so privileged to have been a part of this club for so long, and hopefully even longer now.”
Henderson, who turned 28 in June, is a regular for England and played a starring role as the Three Lions reached the World Cup semi-finals this summer. He has amassed 44 caps for his country so far.
Henderson has made 283 appearances for the Merseyside club and has 24 goals to his credit.
Henderson has featured 44 times for the England national team and was a key member of the squad that finished 4th at the 2018 World Cup.
