Hazard: My Playing Style Fits Sarriball

By Joshua Walters

Eden Hazard has debunked claims that his playing style does not fit into that of Chelsea’s new manager Maurizio Sarri system.

The Italian trainer has introduced a new philosophy to the Blues which is characterised by quick recoveries and transition with a high pressing possessive game.

Hazard has been criticised by football faithfuls for his performance at the club as the squad struggles to come into grasp with the manager’s philosophy widely known as ‘Sarriball’.

The Belgian forward told the club’s website he has benefited from all the coaches he has worked under and found his style identical to that of Sarri.

According to Hazard, his playing style is a reflection of all the lessons he has picked from all the managers that have handled him right down from his time at Lille to Chelsea.

“All the managers I’ve played for have given me something,” said Hazard. “From when I started with Claude Puel at Lille to now with Maurizio Sarri.”

“They all see football in different ways, which is why I’m the player I am. They have all given me important advice. Mourinho was special, but the way Sarri and Garcia like to play is more like my philosophy of football.”

Sarri’s ‘Sarriball’ has come under intense criticism following Chelsea 6-0 humiliation in the hands of defending Champions, Manchester City, at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.

The Blues are looking to return to winning ways after that Premier League defeat when they play against Malmo FF in the first leg knockout game of the Europa League in Sweden on Thursday.

Hazard has scored twelve goals and provided ten assists in twenty-five Premier League appearances this season, but has nothing in his goal account in the ongoing Europa League campaign despite featuring in two games already.
