Diego Simone Calls For Calm

Diego Simone has called for calm from the Atletico Madrid faithfuls after his side was booed by the club’s supporters during the 1-1 draw with Eibar on Saturday.
The manager and his team were hooted at by the fans in the 71st minute when the former handing forward, Borga Garces, his debut by bringing him on for midfielder, Rodri, with the scores at 1-0.
“The fans need to understand that I am trying as our players do,” Simeone told reporters on Sunday.
“It would have been possible for me to keep Rodri on but substitute Koke or Saul instead, but I believe they are better in the phases of attack and transition into the final third.”
The 19-year-old Atletico Madrid youth product grabbed drew level for the hosts in injury time, and Simone insists his introduction into the game was to the benefit of the team.
“Rodri was playing well and I took him off so I understand, but I work with the players and know who works best for the individual situations.”
“Fans come to the games and expect to win, that is now the culture of the club, but we must manage that and get them on our side.”
