Chelsea Beat Huddersfield 5-0 To Get Back Into Top Four
By Max Wise
Chelsea made their way back into the top four with a devastating attacking display to put five unanswered goals past bottom side Huddersfield at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
A brace apiece from Gonzalo Higuain and Eden Hazard, as well as David Luiz's second league goal of the season, took Chelsea above Arsenal who travel to Manchester City on Sunday.
Chelsea made their intentions clear in the early minutes of the game as Ross Barkley side-footed a curler just wide from 25 yards in the second minute.
Gonzalo Higuain has scored goals throughout his career and the on-loan Juventus striker opened his Chelsea account in the 16th minute when he got to the end of a delicious N'golo Kante pass and crunched a shot past Jonal Lossl into the roof of the net.
Higuain went close to doubling his tally in the 21st minute but his toe-poke from Alonso's cross hit the side-netting.
Chelsea were awarded a penalty on the stroke of half time which Eden Hazard coolly converted after Azpilicueta was adjudged to have been nudged by Elias Kachunga in the penalty area.
Barkley zipped a sharp pass into the path of Hazard in the penalty area, and the Belgian rounded Jonas Lossl before finishing for Chelsea's third of the day in the 66th minute.
The Kante-Higuain connection worked again in Chelsea's favour for their fourth after the Frenchman laid the ball on a plate for the Argentine to smash the ball into the top corner from 22 yards out.
David Luiz then headed in Chelsea's fifth from a corner four minutes from full time to take the Blues back into the top four.
