Barcelona Rule Out The Signing Of Luka Jovic

Barcelona have reportedly backed out from the possibility of signing Eintracht Frankfurt forward Luka Jovic.

Reports on Monday says that Catalan giants' decision to pull out of the race to sign the striker is as a result of the realisation by the club that the player cannot form a good partnership with star man, Lionel Messi, with his style of play.

The Serbian has been in splendid form for the German side this season and has consequently attracted several suitors from Europe including Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Barcelona were said to be in the lead, but have backtracked on their initial plan to sign the 21-year-old because his style of play is alien to Lionel Messi's.

Jovic, who has racked up 25 goals for Frankfurt convinced the Blaugrana, who are desperate for a new striker to ease the burden on their Uruguayan forward, Luis Suarez.

After extensive scouting by the club’s scouts in the player’s Europa League game against Inter Milan, where he scored the only goal, they come to a realisation that the player might not partner well with Lionel Messi up front.

With his best quality being a poacher, the former Benfica forward might not fit the Catalan’s squad as they are rather in search for a figure who can team up dynamically with Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele.

These are even aside from the perception that Barcelona has that the player is poor at picking up his colleagues with short passes.

One of the contributing factors is Frankfurt's asking of €60 million as Barcelona believes the player is undeserving of such an amount.

Reports in the Spanish media say that Barcelona, having backed out of the Jovic deal, will now channel their strength on convincing Atletico Madrid ace, Antione Griezmann, who came close to joining the Catalans in the summer transfer window.
