UNBELIVERPOOL: Reds Complete Remarkable Turnaround To Dump Barca Out Of Europe

Liverpool produced one of the most remarkable comebacks in European football history by overhauling a three-goal deficit to make the champions league final at Barcelona's expense.

The Reds scored four unanswered goals past the Spanish champions to advance 4-3 on aggregate despite missing Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino through injury.

For Barcelona, it is a case of déjà vu, as for the second consecutive season, the Blaugrana exits Europe's premier club competition by throwing away a three-goal lead.

Liverpool will now await the winners between Ajax Amsterdam and Tottenham Hotspurs for the final on June 1 at Atletico Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Liverpool made a bright start and opened the scores in the 7th minute when Divock Origi tapped into an empty net after Henderson's shot had been saved  by Ter Stegen.

Barcelona threatened to equalise in the 14th minute but Lionel Messi's shot from Alba's cutback was tipped over by Alisson in the Liverpool goal.

Former Liverpool forward Philippe Coutinho came close again for the visitors four minutes later but his low shot from Messi's pass was once again saved by Alisson.

Andy Robertson then fizzled a powerful effort into the chest of the Barcelona goalkeeper in the 24th minute as the hosts threatened to score a second goal.

Straight after recess Liverpool's pressure on the visitors won a corner, and Alexander-Arnold's cross was diverted towards goal by Van Dijk but Ter Stegen was there to save in the 50th minute.

Just a minute later, Barcelona were at the other end with Suarez forcing a good save out of Alisson.

Substitute Giorginio Wijnaldum, on as a halftime substitute for the injured Andy Robertson, breathed some much needed life into Liverpool's campaign when he converted Alexander-Arnold's cross in the 54th minute.

Barcelona were having a hard time dealing with Liverpool's crosses, and when another lofted ball by Shaqiri came into the visitors' box, Wijnaldum was on hand once again to steer a superb header into the top corner.

With the aggregate score now at 3-3, either side needed another goal to edge in front and it was the hosts who got it.

Barcelona switched off at a Liverpool corner, and Origi capitalised to sweep Alexander-Arnold's cross into the net with just 12 minutes to play.
