Allegri Confirms Ronaldo Anger Over UEFA Snub

Juventus manager, Massimiliano Allegri, has confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo was "angry" over his failure to win the UEFA Player of the Year award.

Ronaldo scored 15 goals to help Real Madrid to their third successive Champions League title last season before moving to Juventus this summer.

But, the Portuguese star was beaten to the 2017/18 UEFA Men’s Footballer of the Year award on Thursday by his former teammate Luka Modric.

Speaking to the press on Friday ahead of Juventus’ trip to Parma on Saturday, Allegri confirmed Ronaldo got furious over the snub but revealed that the player has recovered.

“On Thursday, he was angry because he won the Champions League and scored 15 goals. This shows that he always wants to be the best. Cristiano is fine and he has trained well," he said.

"It was a personal decision and it must be respected.", Allegri said of Ronaldo’s refusal to attend the event which was held in Monaco.

Newly promoted Parma have made a slow start to life back in Serie A, taking one point from their opening two fixtures.

The hosts go into the match in search of their first win, but Ronaldo would get the chance to vent his spleen on them after Allegri confirmed he will start at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

"Ronaldo and [Mario] Mandzukic will play. I still need to decide who will partner them in attack," he added."Saturday will be difficult. Historically, in Parma, Juve have struggled. Games on the eve of international breaks are always a danger."
