Griezmann Achieves Major Career Landmark

Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann reached a major milestone on Saturday when his 56th-minute penalty ensured a 1-0 victory over Espanyol at the Wanda Metropolitano.

By scoring Atletico’s winner, Griezmann reached 200 goals in his senior career having played for Real Sociedad, Atletico Madrid, and the French national team.

The 27-year-old Frenchman has now scored 86 La Liga goals for Atletico Madrid, whiles he netted 40 times for Real Sociedad in the Spanish top flight prior to his departure in the summer of 2014.

Griezmann, who was instrumental in France’s triumph at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, has played 67 times for Les Blues scoring 26 goals.

Griezmann’s seven La Liga goals this season have propelled Atletico Madrid to second place on the Spanish La Liga table with 34 points, just three points behind leaders, Barcelona, who have 37 points after 17 games.

The EURO 2016 golden boot winner’s four Champions League goals this season, have helped Atletico to book a mouthwatering clash with Juventus in the round of 16.
