Vieira Tests Positive For Coronavirus Ahead Of Tottenham Game
Patrick Vieira has become the latest Premier League manager to test positive for coronavirus and will miss Crystal Palace’s trip to Tottenham Hotspurs on Sunday.
The Frenchman is also likely to miss Tuesday’s home game against Norwich City.
A tweet from the Selhurst Park outfit read: "We can confirm that Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira is self-isolating after returning a positive test for Covid-19, and will be absent from the touchline for today's [Sunday] match against Spurs.
"Assistant manager Osian Roberts will deputise for Vieira for today's match."
Crystal Palace already have one game postponed after their trip to Watford on December 18 was called off because of a Covid outbreak in the Hornets’ squad.
Vieira was appointed Palace manager in the summer, replacing Roy Hodgson, and has led the Eagles to 11th position on the standings.
Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has also tested positive for the virus ahead of his side’s home game against Chelsea on Sunday.
The Premier League games scheduled for boxing day have seen a distraction, with three games called off because of various coronavirus outbreaks.
Liverpool against Leeds United, Burnley versus Everton and Wolverhampton Wanders’ home tie with Watford have all been called off.
