Vela Interested In Barcelona Loan Move
Los Angeles F.C. star Carlos Vela is keen on the idea of a loan move to Barcelona at the end of the MLS season.
The 30-year-old came close to joining the La Liga champions in the winter transfer window but Barcelona opted for Kevin Prince Boateng at the expense of the Mexican.
The former Arsenal forward has established himself as one of the best players in the Major League Soccer since he left Real Sociedad in 2017.
Vela scored 34 goals in just 31 regular-season matches in 2019 to set a new MLS goal-scoring record, following his hat trick against Colorado Rapids earlier this month.
According to the striker, he would jump on any train and go back to Spain when Barcelona come calling again.
“Who could say no to playing with Messi for four months and then coming back to LA?” he told the New York Times.
“Enjoy, learn and then come back home.”
The Mexico striker was also asked about his relationship with Ibrahimovic, and the previous comments made by the Swede on why Vela was spending his best years in the United States.
“I have not had the pleasure [of meeting Ibrahimovic],” added Vela.
“Maybe the people don’t really love my decision [to play in MLS].
“But for me, it was the best option, and I’m really happy that I made it because I am enjoying it.”
Ibrahimovic also had a fantastic regular-season in the MLS with LA Galaxy and was four goals shy of Vela’s total tally of 34.
