Thomas Tuchel has responded to Antonio Conte’s claims that Chelsea are yet to figure out the right way to use Romelu Lukaku.

Tuchel Responds To Conte’s Claims Of Chelsea Not Using Lukaku The Right Way

Conte criticised Chelsea’s use of Lukaku in the aftermath of their midweek defeat to Juventus in the UEFA Champions League.

But Tuchel believes Lukaku has generally been used the right way, with the Juventus game only being an exception.

"He [Conte] was obviously not on the telly after the Tottenham game," Tuchel was quoted by Chelsea's official website ahead of his side's clash with Southampton this weekend.

"Of course, if you watch this game against Juventus isolated, he is right on that point and he's obviously in the TV studio to analyse this one game - so he's right, no discussion about it.

"But it's not a general thing. If you watch the other games he's maybe not right. I don't feel offended. I even saw [him on TV] while I was showering before the match in the hotel."

Lukaku started brightly on his return to Stamford Bridge, scoring four goals in his first four appearances for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

The former Everton striker has since drawn blanks in each of his last four appearances across all competitions.

Conte has been widely credited with transforming Lukaku’s game when he signed him from Manchester United for Inter Milan in the summer of 2019.

In two seasons at the San Siro, Lukaku scored 47 goals in 72 appearances in Serie A and helped the Nerazzurri win the Scudetto last season.
