Tributes Pour In For Hazard After Shock Retirement Announcement
Some former teammates and opponents of Eden Hazard have been paying tribute to the former Belgium captain after he announced his retirement from football on Tuesday.
The football world has been thrown into a state of shock after one of the most gifted playmakers of his generation bid farewell to the beautiful game at the age of 32.
Hazard was unattached, having left Real Madrid this summer despite having a year left on his contract.
His former Chelsea teammates Juan Mata and Frank Lampard were the first to pay tribute.
Mata wrote on X: "Oh how I enjoyed playing with you…. One of the very best. Enjoy your new chapter, my friend, you deserve it. Thanks for all the memories and for bringing your joy to football."
Lampard commented: "Congratulations Eden Hazard. What talent, and what a career. It was a pleasure to play with you, and you are a top man in every way. Good luck with what comes next."
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe shared a story that read: "Le grand Eden. MERCI," which translates to: "The great Eden, thank you."
Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes also commented on the post: "Thanks for all the good moments you gave to the world of football. All the real fans of this beautiful sport enjoyed watching you."
Real Madrid goalkeeper and compatriot, Thibaut Courtois wrote: "Thank you for everything my friend!"
