Spurs And Sheffield Utd Unite To Condemn Racist Abuse On Foderingham

Foderingham was in superb form in goal for Sheffield as they pushed Spurs all the way in their Premier League encounter on Saturday.

Having kept Spurs at bay for large parts of the game, Sheffield conceded two late goals to lose 2-1 to Ange Postecoglou's men.

Foderingham revealed after the game that he had been targeted by racists.

“I don’t mind opposition fans calling me every name under the sun. But be easy with the racism and family threats. Think before you type,” the 32-year-old Englishman posted on Instagram.

The two teams have come now come out in support of Foderingham, with the home side launching an investigation to find the perpetrators.

A statement from the away side read: “Sheffield United condemn the racist, abusive and threatening messages that have been sent to Wes Foderingham after yesterday’s game against Spurs.

“The club will now work with relevant bodies to investigate and support Wes.

“There is no room for racism in our game.”

The Spurs statement read: “We are disgusted to hear of racist, abusive and threatening messages sent to Wes Foderingham following yesterday’s match.

“The Club stands firmly against all forms of discrimination and will cooperate fully with Sheffield United and the relevant bodies in their investigations.

“We shall not hesitate in taking the strongest possible action, including Club bans, against any so-called fan found responsible.”
