Shearer Hits Out At Arsenal After Southampton Draw
Former Newcastle and Blackburn Rovers striker Alan Shearer has slammed Arsenal after their low quality draw against Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Unai Emery’s men had to comeback twice, thanks to goals from Alexandre Lacazette to salvage a point against a Saints side that had conceded 13 times in their last three Premier League games.
Southampton dominated Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium and could have easily won the game if not for their profligacy.
Shearer could not believe how bad Arsenal have become and has blamed some of the senior player for the Gunners poor run of form.
“Where do we start? They were sloppy, so bad defensively. [Kieran] Tierney set the tone after a couple of minutes, caught on the ball, poor touches,” the former England forward said as reported by Metro.
“[Lucas] Torreira then got caught on the ball, Arsenal got away with it. Six players and the manager are moaning to the referee when Southampton score, they were too clever for them.”
“David Luiz… by the time the ball is in the net he’s not even in the box, it’s too late, he’s switching off,” Shearer complained.
“These mistakes are happening every single week trying to play out of the back but they’re not good enough to play out from the back, they keep giving chances away.”
“I might get criticized for talking about fouling but what does [N’golo] Kante, Fabinho and Fernandinho do? They foul and they stop attacks.”
“It’s a lack of experience from [Matteo Guendouzi] because look at the space Southampton have got to run into,” Alan Shearer concluded.
Arsenal are winless since their 1-0 victory over Bournemouth in early October, a run of five consecutive league games without a win.
