Shearer Backs Kane To Smash Premier League Goal Record With Man City Move
Alan Shearer has backed Harry Kane to smash his Premier League goalscoring record if he makes a move to Manchester City this summer.
City are reportedly preparing a £100m offer for Kane, who has not hidden his desire to leave Tottenham Hotspurs in search of team laurels.
The Premier League champions are in search for a leading striker, having lost the services of Sergio Aguero to Barcelona on a free transfer this summer.
Shearer holds the record as the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer, with 260 top flight goals plundered across spells with Southampton, Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United.
Kane has struck 166 times in the Premier League for Spurs but Shearer believes his long-standing record will be gone in three or four years if the England captain joins Pep Guardiola’s side.
Newcastle legend Shearer has told UMM of Kane chasing him down: "Sweating?! No. Do I think he will do it? He probably will do.
"I've had it for 20-odd years so it will go one day, and if it goes then why not go to him, he's a nice guy.
"He'll absolutely obliterate it if he goes to City, in three or four years."
Kane has won the Premier League’s golden boot award three times and was also the top scorer at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
