Europa League holders Sevilla are looking for their third manager of the season after sacking Diego Alonso on Saturday.

A 3-0 home defeat to Getafe proved one defeat too many for the former Uruguay manager.

Alonso was brought in as a replacement for Jose Luis Mendilibar on October 10 but lasted just 67 days and 14 games in charge.

The 48-year-old failed to win any of his eight games in La Liga, losing three times and drawing five, and lost all four Champions League games as Sevilla finished bottom of their group.

Alonso's only two wins in charge came against lower tier sides in the Copa del Rey.

Sevilla's 3-0 loss on Saturday leaves them 16th on the table, only outside the relegation zone on goal difference.

"We would like to communicate that Diego Alonso has been relieved of his duties as first-team head coach. We thank him for his efforts and wish him the best for the future," Sevilla said in a statement.

"From tomorrow, we will try to work to incorporate a coach as soon as possible for the Granada game," Sevilla's sporting director Victor Orta said.

"Now we only think about getting back to winning ways this team that tries and doesn't quite find the results.

"We thank Diego for his work, with extreme honesty and a good quality of work. The results have not been given and only this language is understood.

"We wish him all the luck in the world and we're already working to try and win Tuesday's game."

Sevilla are up against Granada in their next game.
