Ronaldo’s Agent Rules Out Sporting Lisbon Return
Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has ruled out a return to Sporting Lisbon anytime soon.
Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, revealed in the aftermath of Sporting Lisbon’s Portuguese league title win this week that she will convince her son to return to Portugal.
Responding to those comments, Mendes told Record: "Cristiano is proud of the title won by Sporting, in fact, as he has publicly demonstrated. But at the moment his career plans do not go through Portugal".
Ronaldo started his professional career with Sporting before leaving to become a world beater at Manchester United in the summer of 2003.
Ronaldo has since enhanced his reputation as one of the game’s greatest ever players with further spells at Real Madrid, where he is the club’s all-time top scorer, and Juventus.
The 36-year-old‘s contract with the Old Lady expires at the end of next season and he has also been linked with moves to the likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid.
Ronaldo has once again been in imperial form for Juventus this season, scoring 35 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions.
He scored his 100th goal for Juventus in Wednesday’s 3-1 win at Sassuolo to help brighten their chances of playing Champions League football next season.
Ronaldo and Juventus are back in action on Saturday when they host newly-crowned champions Inter Milan.
