Ronaldo Voted Premier League Player Of The Month For September
For the first time since March 2008, Cristiano Ronaldo has been voted the Premier League’s player of the month.
Ronaldo takes home the award for the month of September and is the fifth time he has won it overall.
The 36-year-old won the player of the month honour four times in his first spell as a Manchester United player and wins it again 12 years after leaving the shores of England for stints at Real Madrid and Juventus.
Ronaldo marked his return to England with a brace against Newcastle United at the start of the month and added another goal in a dramatic 2-1 win against West Ham United.
The five-time Ballon d’or winner came out on top in a six-man shortlist that also included Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, Watford’s Ismaila Sarr, Joao Cancelo, Newcastle United’s French forward Allan Saint-Maximin and Mohamed Salah.
West Ham United’s Michail Antonio won the player of the month for August.
Elsewhere, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta beat Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola, Graham Potter and Dean Smith to win the manager of the month award.
Everton’s Andros Townsend won the goal of the month for September for his long-range effort against Burnley. It is the third time Townsend has won that honour in his career.
