Ronaldinho's Son Set To Sign For Barcelona
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has announced that Ronaldinho's 17-year-old son is set to join the club.
Joao de Assis Moreira has undergone a successful trial with the La Liga leaders and will be offered a contract to join Barcelona's youth side.
Moreira has previously played for Corinthians and Cruzeiro.
Ronaldinho is widely considered as one of the greatest footballers of all-time, having won the FIFA World Cup with Brazil in 2002.
He won two La Liga titles and the UEFA Champions League during his time with Barcelona and also turned out for the likes of AC Milan and Paris Saint Germain in an illustrious career before retiring in 2015.
“We are really happy Ronaldinho — and his brother, Roberto — thought of Barca to continue his son’s career,” Laporta said at a press conference.
“He was at Cruzeiro, he’s very young and he’s training with us, but we will give him a contract. There are a few things to finalise. We still don’t know if with the U19 B team or not, but we are very happy with him.
“The pressure on the boy is great, because Ronaldinho has been one of the best in history. The son has pressure, but it’s the job of our coaches to develop his skills.”
